I have 3 bikes in my household; mine (Oval Shaped Frame), my wife's (Oval Shaped Frame), and my daughters (Guess what Oval Shaped Frame). The other problem is none of my bikes have a bar across the middle where the tie downs can balance the bikes well.
So this is what happens, once I get it all tied down if I hit to many bumps the bikes shift their position so the majority of the weight is near the ground. This is bad because the back wheel when attached to my car is only 4 inches from the ground, which means if I hit a speed bump the bikes rear wheel is toast. The tie downs tighten so this should not happen, but even after tightening mine until the plastic clip almost broke, my daughters bike had done a 90 degree turn after a speed bump which meant I had to get out, unlock it, spin it back around and then retighten (About a 10 minute job if done right). I purchased this item about 2 yrs ago and the even thought it does a great job the two plates that hold the bikes down are made of poor quality metal that bends very easily. I had to go to local hardware store and purchased thick metal plates to add strenght and avoid them from bending. Would not recommend this item.

As other reviewers have stated, the pictured rack is not the one I received. The rack I received does not tilt and must be bolted together. The upper portion is attached to the lower portion with four bolts, which I checked before every trip. After less than 10 uses of this rack, two of the bolts sheared off while traveling on the interstate with two adult bikes and two childrens bikes. The rack snapped in half behind our motorhome, leaving us with $1,000 worth of destroyed bikes. Buyer beware!!!

This is a very sturdy bike rack, which we use on our RV. The only thing you have to be cautious of is that the screws (sticking up to receive the upper bracket that secures the bikes) don't scratch the bikes all up when you put them on. It also takes a little playing with until you figure out a configuration that works to get all 4 bikes on. We had a problem with my one son's BMX type bike - the center post was too thick/round to be able to fit into the holder. Other than that though, it's worked really well for us and we really like it.

Thought I was ordering Swagman bike rack #64675 as picture corresponds to. Item was actually #64400- not what I wanted. I'm on vacation and had to 2 day ship item in order to get bikes back home to Indiana from Florida. The problem is that the item received does not tilt forward as the picture shows. Now on my trip home I must take off all 4 bikes AND remove hitch in order to get into my back hatch. I tried to call amazon hoping for a miracle, but no luck. I was told to order another for $179.68 and ship for $106.54 and I would get a $15 credit on my next purchase. Not exactly the miracle I was hoping for. Shame on Amazon for selling an item with the incorrect picture. Shame on me for not reading and knowing all of Swagmans parts #s.
